Here is the announcement of our second headliners, and the final band to be part of the Wings of Metal 2013 line-up; a very important band that has formed in 1977 in Wichita, Kansas, and one of the very first epic Heavy Metal bands of all time… MANILLA ROAD!! We are absolutely pleased to present this legendary band at Wings of Metal, who will play their first ever gig in Montreal and all of Eastern Canada! The band has just recently released the “Mysterium” LP, and still plays as magically as in the early ’80s… Rejoice!
Voici l’annonce de notre deuxième tête d’affiche du festival Wings of Metal 2013; un groupe très important qui s’est formé en 1977 à Wichita, Kansas, et l’un des tout premiers groupes de heavy metal épique de tous les temps … MANILLA ROAD! Nous sommes absolument ravis de vous présenter ce groupe légendaire, qui jouera leur premier concert à Montréal à l’Est du Canada! Le groupe a récemment sorti l’album “Mysterium”, et joue encore d’une façon aussi magique que dans les années 80… Réjouissez-vous!
Blood Ceremony replacing Sortilegia
Unfortunately, SORTILEGIA had other commitments and had to cancel their appearance at Wings of Metal Fest. We have replaced them with another killer band from Toronto… BLOOD CEREMONY! The band, an infernal marriage of doomy Black Sabbath riffing and the manic piping of Jethro Tull, play a distinctive style of flute-tinged witch rock with horror-inspired lyrics. They have released two albums so far (“Blood Ceremony” in 2008 and “Living with the Ancients” in 2011) and have recently completed their third album, which will be released later this year on Rise Above Records.
Malheureusement, SORTILEGIA avait d’autres engagements et ont dû annuler leur prestation à Wings of Metal. Nous les avons remplacés par un autre groupe de Toronto … BLOOD CEREMONY! Le style du groupe est un mariage infernal de riff doomy à la Black Sabbath et de flute possédée à la Jethro Tull, avec des paroles de films horreur. Ils ont sorti deux albums jusqu’à maintenant (“Blood Ceremony” en 2008 et “Living with the Ancients” en 2011) et ils travaillent actuellement sur un troisième disque, qui va sortir sur Rise Above Records.
Occult Burial
Totally possessed by the spirit and dirtiness of early ‘80s BATHORY and first wave BM, OCCULT BURIAL brings forth an evil, primitive and ugly Black/Thrash. This brand new band from Ottawa was formed in 2012, and released a S/T demo (self-released in Canada, released by Invitus prods in Europe).
Totalement possédé par l’esprit et l’impureté de la première vague BM et de BATHORY du début des années 80, OCCULT BURIAL joue un Black/Thrash sauvage, primitif et absolument sale. Ce tout nouveau groupe d’Ottawa a été formé en 2012, et a sorti une cassette démo en 2013 (auto-produite au Canada, et sortie par Invictus prods en Europe).
Cauchemar
And the tenth band of the festival is… CAUCHEMAR from Montreal! The band plays a haunted and obscure style of heavy/doom metal, with French vocals and mystical lyrics. They have released their first album, “La Vierge Noire” MLP in 2010 on Nuclear War Now! Prods, and will unveil their new record, “Tenebrario” LP, in spring 2013.
Et le dixième groupe du festival est… CAUCHEMAR de Montréal! Le groupe joue une forme obscure et hantée de heavy/doom métal, avec un chant en français et des paroles mystiques. Ils ont sorti leur premier album, “La Vierge Noire” MLP en 2010 sur Nuclear War Now! Prods, et dévoileront leur nouvel album, “Tenebrario” LP, au printemps 2013.
Sortilegia
Originating from Toronto, Ontario, SORTILEGIA was forged out of Koldovstvo and Haereticus’ desire to create a pure manifestation of Occult ritual Art. The result is reverb soaked black metal, with ceremonial tribal drumming and raw screams that seem to come from the very depths of the Earth… They have released two excellent demos so far (“Pestilent Black Sorcery” in 2011 and “Rehearsal MMXII” in 2012).
Originaire de Toronto, Ontario, SORTILEGIA a été forgé à partir du désir de Koldovstvo et de Haereticus de créer une manifestation pure de l’Art Occulte rituel. Le résultat est un black métal très noir enterré d’écho, soutenu par une batterie primitive et des cris qui semblent provenir des profondeurs de la Terre… Ils ont sorti deux excellents démos jusqu’à maintenant (“Pestilent Black Sorcery” en 2011 et “Rehearsal MMXII” en 2012).
Chthe’ilist
We are pleased to present Chthe’ilist [pronounced "K-tee-list"] from Longueuil / Mcmasterville, Québec. This odd band plays twisted, Lovecraftian Death Metal inthe rarely reiterated style of Demilich, Adramelech and Timeghoul. They have self-released the excellent “Amechth’ntaas’m'rriachth” demo in 2012, and this Wings of Metal appearance will be their first ever.
Nous sommes fiers de vous présenter Chthe’ilist [prononcé "K-ti-list"] de Longueuil / Mcmasterville, Québec. Ce groupe bizarre joue du Death Métal Lovecraftien tordu dans le style rarement repris de Demilich, Adramelech et Timeghoul. Ils ont sorti l’excellent démo auto-produit “Amechth’ntaas’m'rriachth” en 2012, et le festival Wings of Metal sera leur premier concert à vie.
Magic Circle
Seventh band to be announced on Wings of Metal Festival, newcomers MAGIC CIRCLE will bewitch all of us with their ancient and soulful style of early ‘80s doom metal. Coming from Boston, Massachusetts, the band just released their first album on Armageddon shop records. Worship!!
Septième groupe a être annoncé pour le festival Wings of Metal, MAGIC CIRCLE va tous nous ensorceller avec leur style ancient de doom métal début ’80. Le groupe vient de Boston, Massachussetts, et viennent tout juste de sortir leur premier disque sur Amargeddon shop records!
Beast Within
We are proud to announce newcomers Beast Within from Quebec, Canada. The band proudly wears its musical influences on its sleeves, taking cues from bands such as early Celtic Frost and Pentagram. Lyrically, the band stands for the emanation of the true “Self”, buried deep inside each man and woman by centuries of decadence, slavery and blindness imposed by a false moral, political and religious elite. The band’s lineup includes members and ex-members from acts such as Blackwind, Frozen Shadows, Thesyre and Utlagr.
Nous sommes heureux de vous présenter Beast within, issu de la province de Québec. Le groupe affiche fièrement ses influences musicales, qui remontent entre autres aux débuts de Celtic Frost ou à Pentagram. D’un point de vue lyrique, le groupe favorise le rayonnement de la nature véritable de chacun, enfouie au plus profond de chaque homme et femme par des siècles de décadence, d’esclavage et d’aveuglement imposés par une fausse élite morale, politique et religieuse. Le groupe inclut des membres et anciens membres de groupes tels Blackwind, Frozen Shadows, Thesyre et Utlagr.

We are very proud to announce the fifth (filth) band of Wings of Metal festival… coming from Cleveland, Ohio, and known for their wild and sleazy live shows, MIDNIGHT will set Montreal aflame with their hellish first-wave Black Metal!!! Expect ripping MOTÖRHEAD, VENOM and HELLHAMMER worship with a good dose of NWOBHM. The Midnight bell will toll… time to lock up your daughters!!!!
